Mahogany Jazz Hall Burlesque & Absinthe House

Welcome to the Mahogany Jazz Hall

The Mahogany Hall was the most lavish bordello in Storyville, the "Red Light" district of old New Orleans. Operated by "Countess" Lulu White, a woman of intuitive business savvy, she advertsed her popular "ladies" as to have a "special" gft from nature.
The Mahogany Hall was originally called the Hall of Mirrors and today mirrors adorn the stage and the VIP seating area, in remembrance of the old one, and also to assure a view of the entertainers from every direction. The fan window over the entrance evokes the famous emblazoned window of the original main entrance of the old Mahagony Hall, locate on Basin St.
Jazz was a big part of the history of Storyville. Most famous musicians, like Joe "King" Oliver, Louis Armstrong, and many others, played Storyville and the most important people gathered there to entertain themselves for decades, as the "Blue Book" then advertised. Burlesque acts are also presented, which you can enjoy while sipping the favorite drink of the era, the forbidden "Green Fairy" or Absinthe, served in a traditional French style.
