Acoma Learning Center utilizes traditional education to promote individual skills, knowledge and cultural growth through traditional dancing.
The Acoma Learning Center established the Acoma Rain Dancers Dance Group in January 2013 after a request was made by some youth patrons for an after school activity. With this request the staff decided to organize a youth group aimed at increasing involvement in traditional activities and spirituality.
The Acoma Learning Center utilizes traditional education to promote individual skills, knowledge and cultural growth. The youth were brought together through their own desire to learn the culture and participate in festivities in honor of Tribal Administration. Through this group, the children have learned to pray and now understand the meaning in prayer in dance. They also find it a great joy to bring smiles to the audience and are always surprised to be praised by random people.
