We started brewing in Burton-Upon-Trent in 1834. Then in 1898 we got itchy feet. So we moved down the road to the Albion brewery. We still like it so we’ve not moved again since.
We came to Burton for the water. Well, for the rocks the town was built on to be precise. The water trickles down through a thick layer of gypsum before we bring it back up again through our well. That’s what gives our beers the depth of flavour, character and crisp refreshing bitterness that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.
Reportedly one of the oldest buildings in Rolleston, The Spread Eagle was established in the 16th Century. Situated on the main bridge at Rolleston, the building has been used as a schoolhouse and a venue for local courts. Originally called The Mosely Arms, the building was renamed The Eagle Child, before being permanently changed to The Spread Eagle in 1851.
A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar....
