Club Parada

How it all began in Australia

Club Parada has come a long way since its humble beginning back in December 1993.

Founded by two young men at the time, Milos Rsovac and Branko Strbac, Parada was set to become the next big thing in the Serbian community. It would provide this group with a much needed musical element that was missing from already existing community events such as picnics, zabave and occasional concerts.

From this, a Serb nightclub was born.

Under the name of Hit Parada, the first event was staged on Saturday December 4, 1993 at 'Kings Cross Hotel' (rooftop). 261 people attended this event, proving that the idea of a Serb nightclub was more than popular. Happy with the outcome, Parada organisers that night decided and organised a second event, to be held on the 24th of that same month. Here an even bigger outcome was achieved, with 345 people attending the event.

This was enough to convince Milos and Branko that they were on to a good thing and that Hit Parada was destined to a positive future. Stemming from this, a Serb New Year's Eve party was staged on January 13, 1994 at the now defunct 'Studerbakers' of Parramatta. Here over 750 people attended, allowing Parada to establish a name for itself.

Throughout this year, Parada proved to be a regular event, booking in Serbian Easter and public holidays at not only 'Studerbakers', but also 'Globe Hotel' (Sydney).

In 1995, Branko left Parada in order to pursue his own career in the oil industry. He now resides in Houston, Texas and heads up his own company called Corporate Montage- a successful organisation with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and across the USA.

But that was not the end of Parada.

Milos continued pursuing his aspiration of making Parada even bigger and better. However, juggling this goal with his executive position at News Limited would prove a difficult task. To combat this, he approached Mish Bosnjak (Dj Mish) with an offer to replace Branko as his partner. Mish agreed and the two of them made a pact to take Parada nationally within 3 years.

Their initial feeling was that rather than holding Parada on the odd occasion (long weekends and the like), they needed to do them on a monthly basis. So, in early 1998, the decision was made to make 'Student Prince' the Parada home base.

In this same year, Milos concluded that if they were to go national, they should change their name from Hit Parada to Club Parada, and that a website should be created so as to help achieve their expansion plans.

It is then that Goran Ostojic (a.k.a. Gozza) was approached to take Club Parada online by building a website. Since its creation in 1998, www.clubparada.com has become the 2nd busiest entertainment website in Australia (source: Hitwise.com, March 2002).

During the Student Prince days, Milos felt that Club Parada needed to upscale and move onto better venues. After moving to 'Morton on Sussex' for one night, Club Parada eventually made its way to the legendary 'Shark Hotel Sydney'.

In February 1999, Club Parada made its 1st venture interstate, staging an event at Melbourne's 'Megabar'. This gave Melbourne Serbs their first exposure to Parada's unique style of music and a chance to party with a busload of Sydney Serbs who had won a trip to the opening. That same night, Melbourne Serbs were given the opportunity to win a trip to Sydney the following month for the next Parada. Friendships were formed and, to this day, still remain.

Club Parada has since gone a long way in both Sydney and Melbourne. Its parties have been attended by thousands of people at 100's of venues, including Paladin, Watermark, Whiskey Bar, Colonial, Viper Room, Heat, Fusion, Club QBH, Love Machine, Silk Road, Metro (all in Melbourne), and in Sydney clubs such as One World, Maroubra Seals, Metropolis, City Live, Ettamogah, Docks, Pontoon, Goldfish, Watershed and Home Nightclub to name a few.

Club Parada events are also held in Wollongong, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Canberra. Although smaller than those in Sydney and Melbourne, these Paradas are unique in their own ways.

Mish has moved on from Club Parada in (2002) and is now successfully running his own production company. Milos resigned from his position at News Limited in (1998) and now concentrates on making Club Parada and its parent company Promoters Inc. into an international multi-purpose promotions company.

Over the years, Club Parada has become an institution not only for the Serbian community but also for all Australian clubbers, venue owners and associated businesses in the entertainment industry.

Global Expansion & USA.

In 2007, Daniel "Danimal" Todorovic contacted Milos in Australia with the idea in bringing Club Parada to NYC. Before he knew it, it became a nationwide production, and Club Parada NYC grew into Club Parada North America.

During its inception, Milos worked closely with Daniel to create the ultimate in Serb events, with some of the first taking place at the Serbian Association of New York (known to locals as "The Serbian Club"). With Milos' 17+ years of experience in the nightlife promotions industry and Daniel's vast network of venues and contacts, we knew this new venture and expansion process would no doubt become a success and contribute towards Club Parada's ambition to grow and remain the Worlds biggest Serbian dance party.

In 2008, Milos invited Daniel to Australia to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Club Parada (aka the "Rockstar Tour") as a guest DJ, but more importantly, to learn the ropes behind the success of his brainchild. A week-long trip turned into a three-month-long trip, and by the time he returned stateside, Daniel was an official member of the Club Parada family and founder of Club Parada North America.

Club Parada is not just one of the biggest events in Australia and the world but more importantly, it is a place for Serbs to gather. Club Parada unites the Serb Diaspora community, galvanizing it more than ever before. It was in Australia that Daniel experienced this sentiment - and it was something so new to him. This feeling was his inspiration and subsequently the launching pad for his vision for Club Parada North America. Upon his return to NYC, Daniel fused his knowledge of this great Serbian Aussie tradition with his longstanding knowledge of his local turf to assemble a team of talented Serbs - Alex Bursac, Bobby Stankovic (aka Drisd) and Marko Sejat - to bring Club Parada Australia to a new continent.

Club Parada North America (now known as Club Royale) has blossomed into its current state thanks to a strong ongoing partnership with its Australian counterpart. Blending the perfect elements in marketing, design and music, Club Parada North America has held events at some of NYC's most well-known and exclusive venues, including Webster Hall (a special event here included guest DJ Dane from Sydney, Australia), La Pomme and Central. Now it is known as Club Royale.

Today, that same energy remains across both continents, and it continues to spread like wildfire (in a good way!). And, one thing's for sure: this innovation in the Serb community will continue to unite us in Australia, North America, and beyond.

Club Parada is, will remain and will continue to live up to it's title "The Worlds most famous Serbian dance party"
