New independent coffee shop serving exceptional takeaway coffee and wholesome healthy from an eye catching horse box conversion in the shambles Market.

The Dark Horse is a brand new independent coffee shop opening January 2018 in the bustling Shambles Markets situated in York's historic City Centre.

We are York born and bred but have spent over a decade living in Sydney, Australia, where we worked within the unique coffee and food industry. It is an industry that encompasses the Australian way of life and one that we hope to capture in our very own corner of York. Whilst in Australia we worked with some inspirational people and were lucky enough to work with Allpress Espresso who barista trained us so that we can make the perfect cup of coffee. We are excited to be working with Allpress here in York and we can guarantee their coffee will not disappoint!

Our vision is to bring our fellow locals and tourists to the city a new taste experience through both our quality coffee and Australian inspired menu. We will be serving homemade banana bread and muffins, breakfast smoothies, granola or bircher style muesli as well as wholesome freshly made wraps, brioche buns, bagels and soups. All made with locally sourced produce that has been carefully researched and taste tested to ensure your satisfaction.

We aim to bring a quick takeaway service for people on the go who do not want to compromise on quality and good service. Alternatively if you would prefer to take in the bustling Shambles Markets and enjoy a bite to eat or cup of coffee then our unique horsebox conversion offers an eye catching alternative place to stop by.
