An innovative new garden centre has recently opened in Dinas Mawddwy to inspire more than just the colour in your borders.
Lisa and Ian Allsop have grasped the opportunity to transform an unused plot of land just off the A470 in Dinas Mawddwy into a much-needed local garden centre. As the plot is off-grid, they are using solar panels to provide lighting and power, and harvesting rainwater for irrigation as a suitably green solution to their ‘utility’ needs. Even the shop and storage space are cleverly converted shipping containers, clad in larch and with pitched roofs that will be planted ...
Once the terminus of the Old Mawddwy Railway, Meirion Mill has a wealth of history. At the entrance is the Pack Horse bridge dating back to the 17th century. The mill itself was originally used for slate production, later woollen cloth making. Now it houses our shop with a huge range of gifts, crafts, knitwear, throws and clothing for all the family. There is ample free parking, and woodland walk to a stone which marks the site of King Arthur's last battle at Camlan.
