Welkom bij het Badhuis
Het Badhuis- Javaplein opende in 1942 haar deuren en was daarmee één van de laatste badhuizen die in Amsterdam gebouwd werd. Het werd al snel een centrale ontmoetingsplek voor buurtbewoners. In de jaren 70 liep het aantal gebruikers steeds verder terug, omdat steeds meer mensen een douche kregen. Achter de bar kunt u goed zien waar vroeger de douchehokjes voor de dames zich bevonden. Voor een dubbeltje mocht men 10 minuten douchen en het was een sport om er een paar minuten bij te smokkelen. In 1982 sloot het Badhuis en verloor het voorgoed zijn functie als badhuis.
