The Farmhouse Café is a fully renovated old byre which opened in 2008. It is now a bright, modern café offering a selection of light meals, speciality coffees, and cakes throughout the day. The café is family friendly and has a relaxed seating area. There is a selection of gifts and souvenirs available.
The café forms part of a working croft which has a registered fold of Highland cattle (Balemartine fold), and breeds Hebridean and Blackface sheep. The Highland cattle are regularly shown, and several have won rosettes in their class. Our hens produce the eggs which are used in the café.
The Farmhouse Café is situated in the township of Balemartine, on the west side of the island. It is within easy walking distance of Soroby beach, which is an ideal location for bird and seal watching.
