And so, it begins. A new chapter, a new adventurous journey, a new beginning. How did we get here? The concept for Brandon's Bro'rista began in a hospital room. A room where my husband and I spent countless days and nights while my son, Brandon, as known as "BB" battled cancer just as he had done so when he was first diagnosed at the age of 17. I love coffee, always have and while those rooms tend to grow small over time, I'd venture away to the coffee shop, giving Brandon a break from me constantly being by his side. Over time, I began to make friends with the owner, my interest grew, and he welcomed me to sit with him and learn more about the business. Eagerly, I told Brandon that once he was better, I was opening my very own coffeehouse, he was so excited! He said, "I'll be your "Bro'rista!" During his remission, I attempted to open several times on the downtown square, in fact, I was scheduled to open Gather Grounds Coffeehouse on a Monday, but Brandon was once again admitted into the hospital that Friday before. Brandon urged me to go forward and open, he tried to reassure me by saying "he would be fine in the hospital by himself." He knew that wasn't going to happen. I made the promise to him that I would open as soon as he was better. Sadly, at the tender age of 20, Brandon passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017.
In keeping of my promise to Brandon, I knew exactly what I would name the coffeehouse, Brandon's Bro'rista "BB's" Coffeehouse. I promised him I would open as soon as he was better and now since he is completely healed, I'm honoring my word to him. After searching for a new location, an opportunity was presented at 764 W. Commerce St. The location is perfect! Corner business residing next door to Funtime Bowl, available parking, and the ability to incorporate a functional drive-thru. After many hours of precious family and friends volunteering their time, overcoming many obstacles and the blood, sweat, tears, and God's timing - which is always without a doubt perfect, Brandon's Bro'rista has now reached completion. We will serve gourmet coffee, hot chocolate, frappes, specialty drinks, pastries, desserts, soups, salads, and sandwiches. On Brandon's birthday, March 12th, we will not only celebrate his life, but we will also celebrate the grand opening. It couldn't be more fitting. The hours of operation will be 6am to 5pm Monday through Friday and 7am to 3pm on Saturday. We will be closed on Sunday's. Hours are subject to change, based on the demands.
