Shire Breu-Hous is a 7-barrel brewpub at The Stationery Factory in Dalton, MA.
Nick and Andrew became friends in middle school, but after 4 years of friendship, life sent them in different directions.
Andrew graduated from college in 2011 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a couple batches of beer under his belt. While he worked by day as an engineer, he spent most nights either playing with recipes, designing new brewing systems or brewing beer.
Nick traveled the world as a photojournalist, covering political, social and environmental issues. In the midst of it all, he too became enthralled by beer making - going so far as to brew beer in single gallon batches because that was all the space he had in New York City.
On Christmas Eve of 2013, Andrew and Nick happened upon each other in a Barnes and Noble, doing some last minute shopping. After a few minutes chatting, their discussion quickly turned to home-brewing. And with that, they promised to meet again soon.
A few months later, the two met at a Brooklyn bar. Over a glass of Andrew’s home-brewed triple and several more glasses of good beer, Shire Breu-Hous was born and they haven’t stopped working on it since. Three years and many brew days later, SBH is almost ready to open!
