El estilo Märzenbier - la cerveza de Marzo – nació en Baviera. Para obtener una cerveza enérgica, capaz de soportar el verano, se duplicó la cantidad de malta en la receta. La adición hizo aumentar la intensidad del sabor y la fuerza del cuerpo. Madurada luego en condiciones extremas (en frías y oscuras grutas) llegaba a la Oktoberfest con un sabor excepcional.
