Welcome! Located in McGregor, IA nestled between the Mississippi River and the towering bluffs of Northeast Iowa where the streets are lined with 19th century buildings, antique and specialty shops and restaurants, you will find By The Spoonful, an unexpected culinary surprise!
What will you find at By The Spoonful?
The Deli Case. There is a variety of Hormel deli meats and Shullsburg cheeses sliced to order. Hungry? Grab a sliced-to-order sandwich. Pick from our signature sandwiches or have us make you a traditional sandwich. Add chips and a drink for a delicious meal on the go. Perfect for a working lunch or afternoon picnic.
Dairy. We carry locally produced WW Homestead Dairy products. From plain and flavored cheese curds made and delivered fresh every Friday, to their block cheese, fresh milk, fresh butter, and ice cream! We also carry Iowa-made Frisian Farms Gouda and locally made Country View Dairy Greek and plain yogurts. You will find only Shullsburg Creamery cheeses in the deli case; sliced to order and to your preference. Looking for a cheese platter? We do that. We can customize any cheese platter to your preference.
Meats. Locally processed Edgewood Locker meats, including 26 brat flavors, a variety of pork and beef sticks, summer sausage, bacon, seasoned beef patties, pork chops, steaks, and shredded BBQ pork and turkey. You will also find some delectable beef jerky. By The Spoonful also has a small but growing seafood section where you will find shrimp, tuna steaks, cod loins, wild caught salmon, sea scallops and much, much more.
Oils/Sauces/Dips/Spices. Specialty oils for cooking and sauces for grilling are all here waiting for you. Also available are marinades and spice mixtures for beef, pork, poultry and seafood, with flavors from around the world and locally blended to create restaurant-quality meals at home.
Wine and Beer. There’s an awesome collection of wines here from hard-to-find and native Iowa labels, and just about everything in between. We also have a growing craft beer selection featuring Iowa breweries.
