We are expanding! Beats Clothing + Beatsworkin: Coffee n' Skate
Something's been bothering us at Beats in recent times...
From our small skate shop roots we've grown - not that that's a bad thing, but we've been running out of space. Our clothing range has got bigger over the years, shoes and hats have taken over the walls and the skate section, well, let's just say that it's style has become a little bit cramped!
So we decided we should put that right. After 13 years it's time to put our skate credentials back on the main stage. We couldn't make the shop bigger, so we thought, how about we get another space so that we can provide two dedicated shops - one for fashion and lifestyle ranges and one for skate supplies.
And then we thought, we at Beats have always been into our coffee. Wouldn't it be nice to have our own supply of freshly roasted coffee beans and a premium espresso machine? This inevitably led to "why don't we supply the good citizens, skate and civilian, of Barnstaple with the sort of quality coffee experience you would find in any city..."
The result? Welcome to Coffee n' Skate... A brand new Beatsworkin store, just two doors down from the original Beats shop on Barnstaple's Queen Street, where we can display skate decks, hardware and accessories in their own space and serve the best organic freshly brewed coffee.
Meanwhile, our original Beats store, will continue to be the same - selling clothing and footwear - only with more choice. With the new space we will be expanding our women's clothing range and bringing in new lines.
Skate
With the new branch of Beats, we are going back to our skate shop beginnings. We sat down and had a think about how to deliver the best experience to all skate crews coming to us for their decks, wheels, trucks and accessories.
The problem with buying skate equipment is a lot of it gets lost in rack or beneath the counter, so Coffee n' Skate has been customized to maximise display. Yes it's quirky, and we think you'll like it!
We're also carrying more boards. Not only fresh releases from the biggest brands of the skate scene, but also old school collectible editions and a whole range of longboard decks and accessories.
Coffee
At the front of Coffee n' Skate you'll find our Coffee Bar. A purpose built coffee paradise where you can grab a cup to go or pull up a stool and hang out. Again, we wrote a list of what we would want from a coffee bar, which is why we have multiple charging points - both plug and USB - for users to top up for free.
We promise you will not find a superior coffee experience to match what we are serving... Organic quality is the name of the game, brewed to perfection by our resident baristas on a San Remo coffee machine.
As well as the usual coffee choices, prepared using freshly roasted organic beans from Bean Berry, we will be offering something a little bit extra for the coffee connoisseur.
Our Coffee Bar menu includes the option of pour over coffee (each cup brewed especially to order using this old school hand brewing technique) and cold brewed coffee (coffee slow brewed over 24 hours to bring out the true flavour, served cold over ice).
Clothing
Beats (AKA Beatsworkin, the original shop, Glen's shop...) will not be changing. The original shop will continue to be a fashion and lifestyle clothing store, with the same friendly faces behind the counter and continue to sell the freshest brands and clothing lines in the area.
It will be the same shop. It'll just be bigger and better than before! More space means more ranges, more lines, more brands and a more dedicated focus on clothing.
