This corner lot was first purchased in 1876 by Newt Jackson for the tidy sum of 50.00. He built a wooden frame structure that became Jackson's General Store. In 1886 the wood building was replaced by a modern stone building complete with a residence for the manager. Jackson's General Store operated until 1893 when it was rented to Mr. Bigelow Yates, druggist
During 1898 the building was purchased by Mr. John Weeks and named The Corner Drug Store. The Corner Drug Store became a city landmark from days with cowboys and cattle in the dirt streets, to horseless Model T's and finally to paved roads during Llano's boom years.
The building completely burned in July 1944. Only the rock walls and foundation were left after the fire. Corner Drug rebuilt and did business here until 2012 when they moved into a new building just north across the Llano River Bridge.
The property was purchased by Mike Virdell in 2013 and opened in May 2014 as Main Street Affairs. We trust you will enjoy our selection of Local Central Texas wines from the vineyards at Fall Creek, Alamosa, Becker, Fiesta, Wedding Oak, Williams-Chris and Pontotoc.
