Saviah Cellars

Saviah Cellars, formed in 2000 in the Walla Walla Valley of southeastern Washington, is committed to handcrafting small quantities of extraordinary wines that combine viticultural excellence with traditional winemaking techniques. The winery strives to produce rich, artfully balanced wines with intense varietal character that reflect the unique soils and climate of the Walla Walla and Columbia Valleys.
Saviah Cellars' first commercial vintage was just 300 cases. Since then, the winery has grown significantly and in 2009 was named One of the Top 100 Wineries by Wine & Spirits Magazine and in December 2010 Saviah Cellars was called One of the Rising Stars in Washington by Wine Spectator.
Winemaker Richard Funk and his wife, Anita, both natives of Montana, moved to Walla Walla in 1991. The name Saviah is a family name from Anita’s great-grandmother, a schoolteacher, artist and author, who settled in western Montana in the early 1900s.

The family’s heritage is also reflected in our Star Meadows white wine, the location of the original family homestead; our Une Vallée red wine inspired by the current family homestead called “One Valley”; and our Big Sky Cuvée in honor of our Montana roots.

We have carefully selected our vineyard sites based on their unique flavor and aroma profiles, and most importantly, their ability to deliver consistent quality from year to year. In addition to seeking exceptional sites, we develop long-term partnerships with dedicated winegrowers and managers who share our philosophy and commitment to quality in the vineyard.

In 2006, we began cultivating an estate vineyard located a few miles from the winery in the southern tip of the Walla Walla Valley appellation. These 10 acres of incredibly rocky vineyard land has been planted with Syrah and other Rhone varietals will be added. The rocky terroir of the Walla Walla Valley has been producing some amazing wines and we look forward to future vintages from our Estate Vineyard.

Saviah Cellars winery, located on 10 acres of land bordering the Walla Walla River, is surrounded by beautiful vineyards and benefits from scenic views of the Blue Mountains. The winery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
