Cafe Bar 1912
Will soon be opening it's doors bringing cafe culture to Bathgate. Simple food done well and the finest wines spirits whiskys and of course champagnes.
Why 1912 the question that needs to be answered
Is it because Sarah Stein and Dan Boyle the owners grandparents were both born in that year or is it that the ill fated titanic set sail. Alas no
The simple reason is that Bathgate born architect T. S. Irvine finished this beautiful building in that year.
After yearlong renovations this building will once again serve the people of Bathgate in possibly it's finest incarnation yet.
Over the years the "gusset" building has been home to many different businesses such as an auctioneers and valuers, the Norbury Hotel, the Scone shop, a ballroom, mercado casino, a Ford car dealership, an insurance brokers, a hairdressers, a carpet shop and a take away to name but a few.
Many of the original features have been brought back to life to allow the past to shine through and compliment the present.
Over the next few days we will post some of the more interesting facts that we have uncovered whilst brushing away a century of dust and let you know a little more about what you can expect when you step through the doors.
